Seminar: Intercultural Communication Training

New in Zurich? Still not used to hearing Gruetzi, Bonjour, or Buon giorno? A new beginning in a multi-nation working group can be challenging.
Hence, the Academic Association of Scientific Staff at the ETH Zurich (AVETH) would like to warmly invite you to the Intercultural communication training seminar on the 23rd. September, exploring effective face-to-face communication within intercultural contexts.
Throughout the seminar, the following topics will be mentioned with case studies, simulations, group work and discussions:

  • What is culture? How is culture influencing our perceptions?
  • What is culture shock? And how can I measure and deal with it?
  • How can I work efficiently in a multi-cultural working environment?
  • How can I earn benefits from intercultural communication?

Program

10:00 – 12:00 Introduction to the topic Intercultural communication mandatory
12:00 – 13:30 Lunch break and gettogether optional
13:30 – 16:30 Group simulation of verbal and non-verbal communication optional
