Department Associations (Fachvereine)
The Department Association (in German Fachvereine) represent the scientific staff on a departmental level. They organize their own events like excursions, get-togethers or sport competitions and represent their members in departmental comittees. Every ETH scientific employee who signs up for AVETH becomes automatically a member of his department's Fachverein as well, as long as such a Fachverein exists.
For the AVETH board the cooperation with the Fachvereine is very important, since they are sometimes closer to the problems of the members and have valuable information about the developments in the different departments. The Fachvereine on the other hand can officially act as sub-organizations of AVETH und may receive judicial and financial aid but also information about ongoing activities above the departmental level.
If your department has currently no Fachverein running, we would like to help you setting one up. Together we can organize an apero and we will provide advertising material and model byelaws.
