Arik studied Physics at ETH and received his master's there in 2014. During his studies, he spent one year at UPMC in Paris, followed by RnD internships at CERN and with the technology company OC Oerlikon. Currently, he is a doctoral student at the Laboratory for Solid State Physics, working on the development of next generation CMOS compatible sensors.
He joined the AVETH board in February 2015 and was elected as president in March 2016.

Betty did her Master's in Regenerative Biology and Medicine in Dresden, Germany. There she started focusing on bioinformatic data analysis. Subsequently, she started her PhD in the field of proteomics at the Institute of Molecular Systems Biology, where she mainly works on big data analysis to reveal new insights in cancer biology.
Betty is also active in the Department Association of the D-BIOL – AMB.

Fabian started studying chemistry at ETH Zurich in 2010 and completed his studies with a master’s degree in September 2015. During his studies he spent half a year at Uppsala University in Sweden within the Erasmus exchange program. After an 8-month internship at the Novartis Pharma AG in Basel he started his PhD in the group of Professor Antonio Togni in the field of organometallic chemistry. He likes spending his leisure time in the mountains or with travelling. Fabian joined the AVETH board as treasurer in February 2017.

After graduation, he spent one year at BMW Group for its Trainee-program before starting his PhD at ETH in Particle Physics. He is part of the CERN CMS Collaboration, working on the “heart” of CMS and performing data analysis contributing to the Neutrino Minimum Standard Model. He joined Telejob in 2016 and was elected as president in 2017.

Martin studied Biology, Bio- and Neuroinformatics before graduating in Neuroscience at the University of Zurich. He is now a doctoral student in the group of Isabelle Mansuy at the Brain Research Institute. His interest is to elucidate the influence of the environment on behavior, and how interacting environmental, genetic and epigenetic factors can modulate behavioral responses across generations. Besides AVETH he is also active in his department association, the event coordinator in reatch (research and technology in switzerland) and team leader of “Mobiles Genlabor”.
Computer Engineering and Networks Lab

Romain is a PhD from the Computer Engineering and Networks Lab since October 2015. He is developping Real-Time Communication protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks. Before that, he studied Mechanical Engineering and Automation at the ENS Cachan, France. There, he was actively involved in students representation and university committees. Romain joined the AVETH board in March 2016, as member of the Politics Team. He also gives a hand to the Communication Team.

Oliver did his Master's in Physics at ETH. Since then he has focused on numerical methods for quantum many-particle systems. Subsequently, he started his PhD in the field of open quantum systems at the Institute for Building Materials, where he currently works on new perspectives for electron-phonon coupling and Monte-Carlo methods for quantum mechanics in phase space.

Nina studied Biochemistry at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany with a focus in NMR and X-ray crystallography of macromolecular complexes. During her studies, she was a member of the Biochemistry student association for four years. She started her PhD in 2013 as a member of the Biomolecular Structure and Mechanism PhD program, working on a collaborative project between the ETH and Novartis Institute of Biomedical Research (NIBR) in Basel. After spending the first two years of her PhD at NIBR, she moved to the Department of Molecular Biology and Biophysics at the ETH.

Giovanna graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology in Italy and continued her training in Paris, where she obtained her PhD from Université Paris-Sud in Pharmaceutical Technology. There she started focusing on drug delivery systems for diseases like HIV and atherosclerosis. Subsequently, she joined the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at ETH, where she mainly works on detoxification strategies for liver-impaired patients. She became member of AVETH board in September 2016. Giovanna is also active in PSA, one of the Department Associations of the D-CHAB.

Anna earned a PhD in Chemical-Biology at Johns Hopkins University before moving to Switzerland in February 2013 as a postdoctoral fellow in the Institute of Microbiology at ETH Zurich. Her current research focus is the enzymology of unusual post-translational modifications in peptide natural products.
She joins AVETH in spring 2016 as communications coordinator.

Neringa is a PhD student in Department of Environmental Systems Science, Grassland sciences group. She studies carbon and nitrogen allocation in the tropical tree Ceiba pentandra. She did her Master's in Environmental Engineering and Cleaner Production, there she focused on soil bioremediation.

Tomasz obtained his PhD from the University College London, where he worked on cosmological applications of weak gravitational lensing.
Currently he works on testing cosmological models with gravitational lensing using the Dark Energy Survey, focusing on measurements and inference.

Irena is currently doing her PhD at ETH in the field of systems biology. She works on modelling of biological systems and on development of novel parameter inference methods. She obtained her masters degree at ETH and bachelor degree at Jacobs University Bremen in Germany, both in the field of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. In her free time Irena enjoys dancing salsa and lindy hop.

Michèle studied Sinology and East-Asian Art History at the University of Zurich and focused her studies on Tang-Dynasty textiles for her diploma paper. Since June 2001, she has taken care of the AVETH office with a 30% working contract. Her major tasks are administrating the AVETH member files, dealing with all kinds of correspondences, accounting, composing meeting records, organizing member assemblies, and the day-to-day office business.
