Statement on the Conclusion of the Clarification Process at ETH Zurich

Recent events regarding an internal investigation at ETH Zurich, reported in the media (Tagesanzeiger article), have raised important discussions across the academic community.

As the association representing the scientific staff at ETH (AVETH), we wish to express our appreciation for ETH’s commitment to transparency and procedural fairness in handling these sensitive matters. The publication of a detailed report reflects an institutional willingness to address allegations seriously and openly, fostering trust within the university and beyond.

At the same time, we recognise the complexity of such cases and the need for careful, balanced handling. Our role is to ensure that the rights of all members of our community are respected, that concerns are heard, and that institutional processes are upheld to the highest standards of integrity and fairness.

We remain actively engaged in discussions with ETH leadership to represent the interests and wellbeing of the middle academic staff. We will continue to monitor how such cases are handled, advocating for transparent communication, support for those affected, and a respectful academic culture.

We warmly invite members of the middle academic staff to reach out with their perspectives, questions, or concerns. If you would like to contribute more actively to our efforts to shape a fair and inclusive environment at ETH Zurich, we encourage you to get involved with AVETH. Together, we can strengthen our community and foster positive change.
